Talking jazz
An illustrated oral history. Hardbound, 210 p.31 x 23,5 cm.Author: Ben Sidran. Engelse tekst. Stofomslag licht bevlekt.
The 50 conversations in this book took place between the summer of 1985 and the spring of 1990. Ben Sidran refers to these encounters as 'directed conversations' rather than interviews because his personal topics of interest and special points of view were key in determining the directions of each meeting. The result of his method is this group of stimulating, personal, insightful and informative discussions, which not only reveal the personailty of each musician interviewed, but also detail the performance, technique, business, history and emotions of jazz itself. Together these interactions chronicle the oral history of an era and the people who made it what it was.
